Bye Bye Binky!

The boys both had dentist appts (no cavities, woohoo!!), but the dentist said that we really needed to get rid of Parker's bink. I had planned on it happening soon I just couldn't bring myself to do it. He was such a great sleeper with it, and he can be a demanding, loud child--it was my one thing that would help him be quiet for just a little bit. But, once the dentist showed me it was making his mouth do weird things, it gave me the motivation to do it.
I couldn't believe it but it actually went very well. When he was down for a nap, I got the scissors out and cut the tip off all the binky's. When we put him to bed that night he screamed for about 1o min, then went to sleep and slept all night. The next day for nap time he screamed for about 10-15 min and then went to sleep and took a good nap. The hardest part was seeing him so sad that it was broken. He had a few moments where he was missed it pretty bad, but other than that it went well. Much better than the week from hell when I took Gavin's away! It's nice to be done with it--next up potty training!

Dinkelman Family Reunion

Bressain's parents held a family reunion at a huge, beautiful home in Midway. His parents and all his siblings with their families came. We did a lot of card playing, relaxing, chatting, eating treats, watching movies and sitting in the hot tub. It was great to get away and catch up with each other. Gavin enjoyed himself, I really didn't see much of him the whole time, he was so busy playing with his cousins. It is sad but I only got these few pic's of Parker playing in our bath tub. The kid thought it was the coolest thing ever, and would get so ticked whenever we made him get out.

What do you do at East Canyon? SWIM!

We spent everyday at the pool while we were there. The kids had a great time, they had friends to play with every moment of the day.
Other than swimming we played at the playground and went for lots of little walks. I remember going to East Canyon as a little girl, and thinking how much fun it was. It isn't quite as fun when your a grown up, but it is fun to see your kids have fun, so I guess that is why we keep it up.

4-wheeling!

We went up to East Canyon with my family for a little vacation. Trent and Nathan brought up their four wheelers and so we went for a ride. At first Gavin was really excited to go, but once we got his helmet and goggles on and put him on the wheeler with Alesha, he decided he didn't want to anymore. He has never been much of a risk taker. After some talking he finally decided he was going to go. He really liked it--Gavin and Alesha went on one and Nathan and I went on the other, when I would look back at him, he had a big grin on his face. When he got back, he asked why we don't buy one of those motorcycles with 4 wheels. Maybe some day--but I doubt it.

Swimming Lessons

We enrolled Gavin into swimming lessons again this year. He did good, his favorite thing to do was go off the diving board. He remembers what he learned and whenever we go swimming he practices it. Next year both boys will be able to go--that should be fun! Here he is showing off a few things he learned. His teacher told him to walk like a penguin to the diving board, that is his penguin pose. Haha.

Long Time, No Blogging!

I wish I had a good excuse for not keeping up on the blogging but I don't. Summer is over--So I'm going to play catch up and blog about it. Unfortunately, we didn't do a whole lot. I enrolled Gavin into Summer school because the first 2 days of summer he was bored out of his mind. We also got season passes to 7-peaks. Both boys enjoyed that, and it was nice to go for an hour or so every other day.
I had my gallbladder removed the end of July. I kept getting sick, and finally just couldn't take it anymore, so I went into the Dr. They did an ultrasound and my gallbladder was chuck full of stones. I went into surgery the next day. Everything went well and the recovery really wasn't too bad. It is nice to feel normal again! While I had surgery Gavin went and spent half the week at Dinkelman's--which he thought was the coolest thing ever! My parents helped out a lot with taking care of Parker. It is so nice to have a good family you can rely on when you need them.
Both kids just keep growing. Parker's new favorite thing to do is climb. He will climb anything, anywhere to get what he wants. One day I ran into my bedroom to grab something, when I came back Parker had climbed up onto the kitchen counter, gotten into the kitchen sink, turned on the water and was filling up bowl after bowl of water and then dumping it all over the carpet. I was only gone for about 3 minutes. This kid keeps me on my toes!
